Historical Activity
The following is a brief summary of gold exploration and exploitation activities associated with the Imbo Licence as reported by the Royal Museum for Central Africa (RMCA, 2007)
1927 to 1951 | The M’Boro and Amuango deposits produced alluvial gold. |
1938 to 1955 | Primary and alluvial gold was produced from the Kitenge and Maipinji |
1944 | The Kitenge plant was built |
1948 | Underground and surface exploration on Manzako |
1952 to 1959 | Primary gold was produced from the Bagbaie and Adumbi deposits |
- 1955 | Kitenge and Maipunji closed |
- 1959 | Adumbi and Bagbaie closed |
1975 to 1984 | BRGM carried out property visit and drilling intermittently |
- 1975 | BRGM summarize the property |
1980 to 1981 | BRGM map, sample and drill 3 holes on Adumbi |
1984 | BRGM completed a literature study of Adumbi |
1988 | The current area covered by the Somituri Project was held by way of licences as well as by applications for additional licences by Zafrimines (a Zairean Company). Bugeco Intl was commissioned to report on the property. The report entitled ‘Gold potential in the Ngayu Mining District Haut Zaire: the Adumbi and Yindi Old Mines’ is dated August 1988. |
